Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education

Ellison Primary Academy RSE Statement:

At Ellison Primary Academy, we acknowledge that every child is entitled to receive RSE regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, age, culture, disability, sexuality, language, special needs, disadvantaged and looked after children, as per DFE guidance. It is our intention that all children have the opportunity to develop skills in order to empower them to make positive decisions about their mental health.

Our Curriculum

PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education) and RSE (Relationship and Sex Education) are taught using the Jigsaw scheme of learning where our pupils acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they require to prepare them for life. The pupils’ social, physical and emotional maturity is considered and therefore the content will be age appropriate.

Jigsaw is split into six puzzle pieces and the RSE content is delivered through the ‘Relationships’ and ‘Changing Me’ puzzle pieces, which are covered in the summer term.

Parents have been consulted regarding the content and delivery of our RSE curriculum.
