Class 1H

frown Welcome to Year 1H! frown

Our page is filled with all of the exciting things that we are learning in Year 1. Have a look at our photos to see what we've been up to in 1H.

The children have had such a fantastic start to their Year 1 adventure. So far we have explored the story 'Old Bear', begun our Wolstanton topic, and spent lots of time exploring place value in Maths. We are looking forward to sharing our learning with you.

Spring Term!

In English, we will be exploring the story 'Dogger' and using this to help us with our retrieval skills, along with recounting this story and punctuating a piece of text.

In Maths we will be focussing on...

Number -

'To read, write and interpret mathematical statements involving '+', '-' and '='.

and 'To understand place value'.

We are really excited to celebrate 'World Book Day' on Thursday 5th March, and Sport Relief the following week.

Keep an eye on our class page for some pictures!

We hope that you have as much fun looking through our pictures as we did creating them.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

'Dogger' drama -  28.02.20

Over the next 6 weeks, Year 1 will be exploring the story 'Dogger'. Today the children listened to the story and acted out what was happening. Here's what the children thought about our Drama lesson...

"I really love drama and I liked being at the toy stall."

"I liked the part where we found Dogger. It was my favourite."

"I liked the bit where we hugged because we finally found Dogger and I really missed him."

"We like drama because it helps us to understand the story."

Well done 1H! J

'As You Like It' drama -  04.02.20

This week we have begun learning about William Shakespeare and his play 'As You Like It'. The children had a wonderful time re-creating scenes from the play through drama. We thought about how the characters felt, what the characters might be saying, and what the characters are thinking. The children demonstrated their understanding of the play beautifully.

The Prince and the Pauper - New Vic Theatre Trip - 03.12.19

We had lots of fun at the theatre on Tuesday. The children enjoyed seeing the story of 'The Prince and the Pauper' unfold. We especially enjoyed the fireworks and the exciting battles. Well done 1H for your fantastic behaviour! You made Ellison incredibly proud.

Children In Need 2019 - The Big Move! 14.11.19

Today the children took part in The Big Move. Children all over the country were able to join in, with the help of Joe Wicks. The children enjoyed stretching, jumping, hopping and star jumping. Afterwards we were very lucky to join in with a dance class with 1MM. We had to pretend to ride a bike and stop at the red light, we pretended to be a butterfly and we even did the Baby Shark dance. How fantastic do the children look in their spotty outfits too? What a super Pudsey day!
